Resources Around Town

Our community is fortunate to have Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the heart of town.   Iup provides our community with a wealth of resources for families.  I have shared a few you may not be familiar with below.

The IUP Literacy Center provides assessment and instruction with reading and writing for children and adolescents.

The IUP Community Music School provides private lessons, ensembles, and classes in music.

The Child Study Center provides educational and psychological assessments, and consultation and education for parents related to academic and behavioral issues.

The IUP Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic provides diagnostic and treatment services.

  1. This is great that IUP helps your community out in these ways. It always helps not having to go outside of your community! - Haley Oyervidez

    1. It is great to have a university in our community! Many valuable resources and programs right next door!

  2. Our high school has connections to a couple of local universities, and they help so much in resources, especially when every dollar is so precious in public education.

    1. Those connections are so important especially for the high school level.

  3. What a helpful list for families to have! Our library also posts similar listings of available resources. I do wonder how much our local universities are involved!

  4. Thanks! Universities have so many things to offer communities it's just knowing what and how to get them.

  5. This is so great! I'm glad that your local University has such great resources. My community has Brigham Young University - Idaho as a resource and we definitely do not take advantage of what they have to offer us. If anything, some members of the community and school district push away anything that has to do with the university. Everyone wants to make it clear that the town is NOT run by BYUI. This attitude has made it so the University will look outside of our community to share it's resources. 😕

    1. Avery,
I'm sorry to hear that! It's unfortunate for your community since the resources they have to offer are very valuable.

  6. This is a great resource for families in that community. I plan to look into our city to see if the universities provide similar resources. Are these resources free or subsidized at all.
